    Dear ENT Division members:

I am posting this call for volunteers on behalf of Patrick Murphy and Celeste Brotheridge who are helping the local arrangements committee put together an All Academy PDW that reflects the Passion and Compassion theme of the 2010 AoM meetings in Montreal.

I think this is an imaginative initiative, and I urge anyone who has time and interest to consider helping out.

    Eileen Fischer,
    Chair, Entrepreneurship Division

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - PLEASE REPLY NO LATER THAN JANUARY 3, 2010

As part of the AOM 2010 conference, the local arrangements committee is organizing an All Academy Theme PDW entitled, "Sustaining business: A meeting of management scholars and entrepreneurs" in collaboration with the Montreal YWCA.

This PDW will be attended by approximately 200 social and conventional entrepreneurs provided by the Montreal YWCA who are interested in sitting down with management scholars to discuss their ventures. This workshop will provide invaluable assistance to the entrepreneurs and enable management scholars to share their expertise and put their research into practice.

This PDW will begin with a short presentation on sustaining a business venture. Then, in three 30 minute periods, entrepreneurs and management scholars will hold small round table discussions. The round tables will focus on different topic areas (see below).  Each round table will have at least one management scholar, but 2-3 scholars per table is fine too.

The discussions will be interesting, informational, unstructured, and driven by questions from the entrepreneurs. Although we are open to your suggestions for additional topics, we are currently envisioning the following topics:

    1.        Managing a partnership
    2.        Engaging employees
    3.        Caring for customers
    4.        Marketing your business
    5.        Growing a business venture
    6.        Leading a business
    7.        Developing a business plan
    8.        Pricing your products and services
    9.         Recognizing and pursuing opportunities

If you are interested in serving as a round table chair please send your:
    (a) name, position, affiliation, contact information
    (b) preferred round table topic
     to celeste_brotheridge@yahoo.ca\t_blank">celeste_brotheridge@yahoo.ca and profpjm@gmail.com\t_blank">profpjm@gmail.com by January 3rd.

Thanks in advance for your interest and contribution to this endeavour!

    Sincerely,
    Céleste Brotheridge (UQAM)
