Management Faculty Position
Management and Human Resources (MHR) Department
Wisconsin School of Business
University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison)
The MHR Department in the Wisconsin School of Business at the UW-Madison expects to have a tenure-track/tenured faculty position to start in the Fall of 2017. Candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence in human resource management are preferred, and those candidates whose research and teaching interests link human resource management to other areas in the department, such as strategy, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and organization theory, are of particular interest. Rank is open. Salary, benefits, and rank for the positions are competitive and based on applicant qualifications and experience. This position will be filled contingent upon funding and program need.
Candidates are expected to produce high quality, high impact research. Teaching excellence is also expected. We currently offer full-time undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. degrees, as well as part-time MBA and executive education programs geared toward working professionals. The ability to make important external and internal service contributions is also a key criterion. (Expectations here depend on rank.) Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or be firmly on track to complete their Ph.D. by August 2017. Those seeking an initial tenured rank should have a very strong record of scholarship, as evidenced by quality publications and citations of their work.
Current tenure track members of the MHR Department are Ray Aldag, Russ Coff, Jon Eckhardt, Martin Ganco, Barry Gerhart, Hart Posen, Sarada, Jihae Shin, Alex Stajkovic, Ann Terlaak, Charlie Trevor, and Mary Triana.
The Wisconsin School of Business recently received a unique $85 million "naming" gift from a group of dedicated alumni. This gift, now approaching $100 million, provides strong support to enhance recruiting, retaining, and facilitating the success of a world-class faculty. The School is housed in Grainger Hall, a state-of-the-art facility that recently completed $40 million expansion. The nearby Fluno Center, our $28-million Executive Education Facility, is outstanding for executive-education programs.
The 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) ranked UW-Madison 24th in the world. In 2016, both Forbes and U.S. News & World Report ranked us 10th among U.S. public universities. Additional rankings of public universities have us at 4th in total research expenditures, 7th in patents, 4th in doctorates granted, 8th in "best value," and 2nd in the production of Peace Corps volunteers. UW-Madison is a leader in study abroad, area studies, and foreign language education. A recent survey found that UW-Madison tied for first (with Harvard) for the number of alumni serving as CEOs of S&P 500 firms. UW-Madison is also home to the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), the oldest U.S. technology transfer office, which provided $92.5 million to campus this year.
Madison is a beautiful city on the isthmus between Lakes Mendota and Monona.
