A whole bunch of tracks - if you can't find one up your alley that fits your provocative, cutting-edge work, I'd be surprised.

Get thee to www.icsb2007.org and at least look!

Looking for a few more great scholars and great educators!

And it's conveniently right after Babson --

    Norris

I am really jazzed about what we've got cooking in our special track on "informed" intent for ICSB 2007 ( www.icsb.org). We are committed to showing why what we do truly matters - how we change entrepreneurial thinking for the better (and where we aren't) and why... We have lined up some terrific contributors as invited agents provocateurs but we also know there is great work being done globally that needs to be shared with the entire field. Will you join the fun? (Of course, there will be a party too.)

You don't need to be a "big name" - just have some provocative work, both rigorous and relevant, in this area!

Questions can be directed to any of the track team (emails below) - how can we facilitate your interest?

    Gratefully,
    Norris Krueger, for
Malin Brannback, Alan Carsrud & Jill Kickul

p.s. PLEASE forward this to colleagues internationally.

SPECIAL TRACK for 2007 ICSB, Turku, Finland

    "Informed" Intent? Enhancing Entrepreneurial Intentionality

What is Entrepreneurship's distinctive competence? What allows us to deliver great value to students and communities? According to AACSB, it is our success at changing students and trainees and in changing how they think. We need to do a better job of showing why our pedagogical tools work. This track seeks to both encourage more high-quality manuscripts and to celebrate one of the things that make entrepreneurship so special.

This special track explores how we can optimally enhance the quality and quantity of entrepreneurial intent by enhancing the quality and quantity of expertise at entrepreneurial thinking. Manuscripts received will also be considered for an edited anthology
that will be "the" compendium for entrepreneurship education and training. We will vigorously market this track in all appropriate channels (including non-Western scholars); we will also 'seed' the track with invited (but developmentally reviewed) invited presentations by the very best in Entrepreneurship.

    Specific Foci of Manuscripts

We are seeking papers that truly push the envelope in two particular directions.

    1) What are the pedagogical implications deriving from cutting-edge theory & research in entrepreneurial cognition? [Translating cutting-edge research into entrepreneurial cognition – into best practice.]

    2) What are the theoretical underpinnings of our best classroom tools & approaches? [Proven, tested best practice in entrepreneurship education & training – and explaining its efficacy using cognitive science.]

Each presentation will help address the question of what should a 'master class' in entrepreneurship include (or not include) with a very strong, clear foundation in cognitive theory.

What do we mean by "informed" intent?

We have recently seen exciting research expanding the richness of our understanding of entrepreneurial intentions and, in particular, the relevance to pedagogy and the critical importance of expertise. As entrepreneurial expertise is increasingly important to scholars and educators alike, why not ask: "Entrepreneurial intent among novices versus entrepreneurial intent among experts? If entrepreneurship is not fully recognized as a profession, it certainly has become more and more professionalized. Based on theory (and practice), what does it mean to be 'expert' in the entrepreneurial domain?
Most Important: How do we help people get there?"

The domain can be narrow (e.g., a focus on an important domain like technology, corporate or social entrepreneurship) or broad; the focus can range from a single pedagogical tool to an entire program. Also, manuscripts can focus on how/where pedagogies can be highly ineffective. One area where a focus on entrepreneurial thinking and intentionality has been both productive and fascinating has been technology entrepreneurship, so we expect to include papers on that particular domain.

The ideal manuscript will combine a strong command of the 'cutting edge' of entrepreneurial cognition research with practical experience in teaching/training entrepreneurs. The translational format will encourage high-level collaboration. The organizing team will offer to arrange innovative, high-level collaborations, as needed, e.g., for non-US scholars seeking to be involved.
