    ** Apologies for cross-postings**

VU Amsterdam is looking for 3-4 assistant professorships (tenure track) in our Management & Organizational department. The vacancy can be found here: http://www.vu.nl/en/employment/vacancies/2016/16572.aspx

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is one of the leading institutions for higher education in Europe and aims to be inspiring, innovative, and committed to societal welfare. It comprises ten faculties. The campus is located in the fastest-growing economic region in the Netherlands (the Zuidas area of Amsterdam), providing work for over 4,500 employees and academic education for more than 23,000 students.

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEWEB) seeks to combine high quality education with excellent research. The Faculty offers three Dutch taught Bachelor's programs (Business Administration, Economics and Business Economics, and Econometrics and Operations Research), one English taught Bachelor's program (International Business Administration), eight English taught Master's programs, and thirteen executive and post-graduate programs. The faculty has several research groups with an outstanding international reputation. FEWEB accommodates approximately 5,000 students and 1,500 postgraduate students.

The Department of Management & Organization
At the department of Management & Organization we see research and teaching in a mutually supportive relationship and foster an academic spirit that holds up the unity of education and scientific research. We strive for excellence in research by making a strong contribution to international scholarly debates. At the same time, we stimulate innovative and progressive teaching methods and close interaction with our students. Members of our department have received prestigious teaching awards, while we also have a strong track record in research by publishing regularly in leading journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Science. We encourage heterogeneity in research methodologies and endorse both quantitative and qualitative approaches. In their research, members of our group focus on topics such as mergers and alliances, corporate social responsibility, strategic entrepreneurship, organizational transformation, leadership, career development, changing employer-employee relationships, and other topics.

The Department has a collaborative ethos with staff actively working together on research projects and papers. We also organize regular seminars and workshops both about how to improve our research and our teaching. Our group is highly diverse in terms of cultural backgrounds and we enjoy working in an international environment. The department offers a broad range of courses in both Bachelor and Master programs, including Master specializations in Entrepreneurship, Management Consulting, Human Resource Management, International Business, Leadership & Organizational Transformation and Strategy & Organization. For more information about the department and our people, see our website (http://www.feweb.vu.nl/en/departments-and-institutes/management-and-organisation/index.aspx).

    Position
We seek 3-4 new colleagues who are passionate about doing research, are committed to publish at the highest level, and are enthusiastic about creating a stimulating and motivating learning environment for students in their teaching. Your tasks will include:
    • Teaching (in English or Dutch) primarily within the area of strategic management, human resource management, organizational behaviour, and/or international business, both at the undergraduate and graduate level (e.g., Master specialization Strategy & Organization, Human Resource Management; International Business); supervision of bachelor and master thesis
    • Course development and coordination within the areas of strategic management, HRM, organizational behaviour, and/or international business, and participation in project groups or committees within the department or faculty
    • Research in one of the department's focus areas
    • Publishing in international journals and participating in international research activities such as conferences
    • An active interest in other work in the group and collaboration

Candidates are required to have a PhD in Business Administration/Management, Organizational Psychology, or a related field in the social sciences (completed or with a fixed date for the defence) and should be fluent in English. Prior publication experience in international peer-reviewed journals is a strong asset. Candidates without a completed PhD but who already have a proven research record are encouraged to apply (salary and position will then reflect the seniority of the candidate). Please note that experience in designing teaching programs is highly preferred.

The position involves research (40%) and teaching (60%). Candidates should be willing to acquire a basic qualification in teaching as demanded by Dutch universities (if they do not already have one). The position of Assistant Professor is a tenure track position with initial appointment for 2+4 years and possibility of tenure. The preferred starting data is February 1st 2017, though no later than July 1st 2017. Current assistant professors with a few years of experience are very much welcome to apply for this position, as they might complete the tenure track early.

    Salary
We offer a competitive salary package in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel (salary scale 11 up to a maximum of €4,691 gross per month), depending on experience and based on a fulltime employment. In addition to this, we offer holiday allowance, end-of-year allowance, and other benefits. You can find information about our excellent fringe benefits of employment at www.workingatvu.nl.
