Program Chair: Donald O. Neubaum, Florida Atlantic University, ent@fau.edu

2017 ENT Division Scholarly Program: Call for Paper and Symposium Submissions

    DEADLINE: January 10, 2017, 5:00PM Eastern Time

The Entrepreneurship Division is a network of entrepreneurship scholars that supports the professional development of our members who create and disseminate knowledge. The Division adds value through scholarship, collegiality, professional growth, inclusiveness, and an enterprising mindset.

Specific Division Domain: The Entrepreneurship Division's domain is "the actors, actions, resources, environmental influences and outcomes associated with the emergence of entrepreneurial opportunities and/or new economic activities in multiple organizational contexts, and (b) the characteristics, actions, and challenges of owner-managers and their businesses."

The Division will accept Paper and Symposium Submissions (please see the guidelines for these submissions here). Submissions contributing to the 2017 conference theme "At the Interface" are encouraged, but selection of papers is not restricted to this theme. The conference theme (an explanation can be found here) prompts us to think about entrepreneurial action, and how, at its core, entrepreneurship requires individuals and organizations to make connections with others beyond their immediate boundaries.

A few examples of issues related to the conference theme that you may wish to consider include:

Is reaching within, and across boundaries, a key ingredient to the entrepreneurial mindset and are entrepreneurs uniquely capable of seeing and managing the possibilities found at interfaces?

Do differences and deviations in interfaces foster opportunities for the creation of new firms and the dissolution of other firms?

How do boundaries and connections across boundaries influence opportunity recognition activities and processes?

How does the nature of new ventures' boundaries vary as the organization evolves over time? How does the value, and the management of different types of connections, change as ventures grow? What are the roles for hybrid organizational forms/exchanges (e.g., alliances or virtual)?

How does the manner in which an organization interacts and interfaces beyond its boundaries affect its innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities?
Exchanges across the interface can stimulate innovation by integrating new resources and fresh perspectives. How do changes in organizational interfaces affect the processes of innovation and the development of new technologies?

How do organizations manage their interfaces to balance creativity against protecting their intellectual property?

Within the realm of social entrepreneurship, does the manner in which social ventures interact with others vary across its social and economic spheres?

How do entrepreneurs leverage "interstitial resources"? How do entrepreneurial processes such a bricolage and effectuation play out in the interstitial space?

Does the role of interfaces vary across entrepreneurial contexts? Do differences in industries, geographic regions, institutions, and cultures alter the relevance of boundaries and connections?

Other interesting topics and themes are also welcome.

Please remember that the submission due date is the same for papers, symposia and PDWs: January 10, 2017, 5PM ET (NY Time).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are willing to submit a paper or symposium, it is expected that you reciprocate by volunteering to review for the Entrepreneurship division! Please note that you must renew your reviewer registration every year. Reviewer sign up opens late October, 2016.
