OMT & IOM Paper development workshop on Innovation

Sponsored by the Organization & Management Theory Division of the Academy of Management, Innovation: Organization and Management (IOM), the Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM) and Imperial College Business School.

    When: 19-20 November 2016

Where: Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM), Abu Dhabi

We are very pleased to announce that we will hold a paper development workshop in Abu Dhabi in November, 2016. To be considered for inclusion, papers should broadly relate to innovation within and across organizations, in line with the remit of Innovation: Organization and Management (see the journal information here). IOM is a new journal that seeks to publish outstanding scholarly work at the intersection of innovation and organization theory. Given the location of the workshop, papers focused on innovation in emerging markets are particularly welcome as are papers on social innovation and social entrepreneurship.

The workshop offers an opportunity for scholars to develop their ongoing work in a friendly and collegial environment. The workshop will be developmental - each paper will have a senior scholar as a discussant as well as receiving feedback from peers with similar research interests. In addition, there will be panel discussions and presentations by senior scholars on how to meet the challenge of publishing innovation papers in top journals.

Confirmed mentors include Markus Perkmann and Nelson Phillips (Imperial College London), Pablo Martin de Holan (EM Lyon), Paul Tracey (Cambridge) and Llewellyn Thomas (ADSM). Other mentors will be announced shortly.

The event should be of particular interest for those recently graduated with a Ph.D. or doctoral students who have a well developed manuscript; scholars more advanced in their careers are also welcome to attend. Selection of papers will be based on an abstract of 500 words. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30th of September 2016. Full papers will be required by 6th of November 2016.

    Logistics and Support to Participants

The Abu Dhabi School of Management (ADSM) is pleased to host and jointly organize this workshop with the OMT Division of the Academy of Management and Innovation: Organization and Management. The conference will involve a mix of young faculty, student participants and senior colleagues who will discuss papers and offer developmental advice. The atmosphere is expected to be collegial, informal, but centered on progressing working papers with the objective of getting them published in leading journals. The editors of the Innovation: Organization and Management journal will also provide insight into the publication process. There is no conference fee, and ADSM will cover two nights of accommodation, lunch, coffee breaks and dinner. Participants must make their own travel arrangements.
