My bi annual question

    Hiya all,

I asked a question regarding direction for international entrepreneurship earlier in the year.  Thank you to all who replied, all comments were useful, especially Howard who suggested all I need to do was cross the Auckland Harbour bridge.

    Anyway.

In the past I have been teaching a final year undergrad paper/course called entrepreneurial development. It is a course that is more closely aligned to entrepreneurial strategy, especially when taken from a consultancy viewpoint.   I have been utilising the Novel Jennifer Government by Max Barry, and the film Tucker, as set texts to illustrate the entrepreneurial construct in my teaching of this course.

In addition  am currently involved in a working paper, Andrew Cardow, Robert Smith, Stephan Schuetze   Viewing Byronic heroes as heuristic devices  for teaching entrepreneurship. T his, along with my own article the metaphorical rise of entrepreneurship, has me thinking about the actual "development" of entrepreneurship.

I am seriously considering replacing the Max Barry book with  Phillips, J. (2004) The Fourth Crusade and the Sack of Constantinople. Pimlico, London.

This is an accessible history of the IV Crusade, and includes clearly identifiable characters of entrepreneurship, such as the idea person, the money man, the marketer, a planner, and a entrepreneurial management team.  It illustrates "good" and "bad" aspects of opportunity recognition and consequences of action.

    Now the question.

Has anyone done this historical approach in the past and if so how did it go down?

All and any comments greatly appreciated.  Enjoy the week people.

    Kind Regards
