    THE BASQUE INSTITUTE OF COMPETITIVENESS

    DEUSTO Foundation (Basque Country, Spain)

    Department of Entrepreneurship


    Researcher (Ref: 2011RRHHP05)

     

    The Basque Institute of Competitiveness invites applications for a position as a Researcher in the Department of Entrepreneurship in San Sebastián (Basque Country-Spain).

     

    Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree, should have access to academic networks of excellence, and must be fluent in English, preferably with (at least) basic/intermediate knowledge of Spanish.  The successful candidate will join the Entrepreneurship Department as a full-time researcher to study the relationship and impact of entrepreneurial activity on regional development. The candidate

     

                       will work under the supervision of the Department Director, carrying out activities in (1) research, (2) interaction with local social and economic agents, and (3) teaching

                       will get involved in international, national and local networks/projects

                       will also collaborate with researchers from the Institute's other departments

     

    The research fields prioritized by the Entrepreneurship Department are:

     

                       Business demography and regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.

                       High growth entrepreneurship: Innovation and internationalization of start-up companies.

                       Intrapreneurship/corporate entrepreneurship (spin-offs).

                                Financing of early-stage firms

     

     

    Remuneration will be based on the candidate's merits and experience. Expected incorporation to the Institute: first semester of year 2012.

    About the Basque Institute of Competitiveness

    The Basque Institute of Competitiveness (Orkestra) is a research institute, with offices in San Sebastian and Bilbao, founded in 2006 and affiliated with the University of Deusto. Its mission is to engage in the so-called 3 i´s: Investigation (research) of excellence; specialized Instruction; and social Interaction with relevant agents of competitiveness. The activities are targeted at strengthening the competitiveness and sustainable development of the Basque economy and enhancing the well-being of the local community in a globalized environment. It is organized into four departments: Territory, Regional Development and Clusters; Entrepreneurship; Strategy; and Energy. Currently, the Institute has about 35 employees, researchers and staff members, from more than ten nationalities. The Institute is funded by public organizations and private corporations (i.e., Repsol-ypf, Gamesa, ...) and partners with well-known academic institutions (i.e, Harvard University, INSEAD, Max Planck-Jena...).
