For an appointment at the assistant professor level, candidates must have, or be close to completing, a PhD in an appropriate field (such as Business or Sociology), with demonstrated potential to publish top-level research and achieve teaching excellence; an appointment in the latter case will be contingent upon the completion of the PhD by an agreed-upon date. In addition, success in obtaining research grants and scholarly activities will be considered. Appointments at a more senior level (Associate or Full Professor) may also be considered depending on qualifications and experience. For an associate/full professor appointment, candidates must have a PhD in an appropriate field (such as Business or Sociology), a reputation for making high quality contributions to top tier journals and evidence of teaching excellence. Proficiency in English is required.
Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting and publishing research in top tier journals, supervising graduate students, and service to the School's academic activities. The School of Business has an energetic PhD program and the successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in its continuing success and development.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to our Innovation and Entrepreneurship MBA specialization. This specialization addresses a range of skills and issues in innovation and entrepreneurship broadly, including those related to technology commercialization. The position will also support research and outreach in the University of Alberta's Technology Commercialization Centre. The Centre aims to enhance entrepreneurial education on campus, as well as engage practitioners and policy audiences in ways that raise visibility of our school in the wider community.
