Dear Colleagues,
You are cordially invited to join us in the upcoming AoM Caucus titled "Design in Management: Themes, Challenges, and Opportunities", which will take place on Monday, August 8, from 4:45-6:15pm at the Anaheim Convention Center in room 213A
The goal of this Caucus is to build a community of scholars at AoM interested in studying design and its role for management. Rather than taking a normative approach, we plan to let themes, challenges, and opportunities emerge from the bottom up by asking participants to share their current design-related projects. First, we will discuss these projects' intended contributions to the management field and the challenges participants have met in doing design-related research.
Then, we will focus on fostering the emergence of new projects. We will ask participants to list their skills and/or assets – e.g., theory development, methodology, data access – and organize them in groups around themes that seem promising, either because they build on what people is doing or because they are still largely absent from the design research landscape which emerged from the caucus. We will encourage each group to develop one new research project by leveraging its members' complementary skills and shared interest on the topic.
Pre‐registration is not required. Further details the Caucus' rationale and content can be found on the AOM program. Please feel free to contact Ileana Stigliani (i.stigliani@imperial.ac.uk ) or Fabio Fonti (fabio.fonti@esc-rennes.com) if you would like any additional information.
Sincerely,
Ileana Stigliani (Imperial College Business School) and Fabio Fonti (ESC Rennes School of Business)
