We invite you to attend a PDW on "Entrepreneurial Motivations: Past Present and Future Theoretical and Empirical Directions," during the Academy of Management meeting on Anaheim. The PDW will be Friday August 5th at the Hilton Anaheim in Avila AB from 12:00-2:00 pm.

Motivation is a core concept in psychology and, until recently, little attention was paid to the role that motivation can play in explaining entrepreneurial processes including intentions, opportunity recognition and startup. Over the past six years, research in entrepreneurial motivation indicates that it also contains affective elements such as passion (Cardon et al., 2009; Murnieks, Mosakowski & Cardon, 2014), compassion (Miller, Grimes, McMullen & Vogus, 2012) and founder's identity (Powell & Baker, 2014; Yitshaki and Kropp, 2015). The primary goal of this PDW is to foster greater communication and collaboration amongst academics involved in entrepreneurship research especially as it relates to motivation and the aforementioned affective constructs.

The PDW will begin with a panel discussion of senior scholars including Alan Carsrud, Malin Brannback, Matthew Grimes. Charles Murniecks, Erin Powell, Ronit Yitshaki and Fredric Kropp. The panel discussion will be followed by a moderated discussion, followed by roundtable discussions. If you are interested in attending the registration code is PDW85TW7.

    Regards,

    Fredric Kropp and Ronit Yitshaki
