The David Eccles School of Business of the University of Utah announces a
tenure track position in Strategic Management subject to University funding
and approval. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as strategy,
organization theory, or economics is required. Rank is open, but the
preference is for an Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with
experience.
The Management faculty is recognized for its research and scholarship. The
Department places its Ph.D. student graduates in well-known research
universities, and its MBA Program has been rapidly rising in the rankings.
This position will require scholarship, teaching skills, and leadership
ability. The successful candidate will be a researcher in strategy, with
a focus in one or more of the following areas: entrepreneurship,
innovation, management of technology, or international business. He or she
will be prepared to work with established senior scholars, junior faculty
and to lead and mentor the research efforts of doctoral students.
The ideal candidate for this position will have an interest in the
interface between strategy and technology and in supporting, through
education and research, the activities of the University of Utah’s
TechVentures and Lassonde Center programs.
Teaching responsibilities will cover variety of topics ranging from
corporate and business-level strategy and entrepreneurship to technology
and international business at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
There will also be opportunities to teach in Executive MBA and non-degree
executive programs.
The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, site of the 2002
Winter Olympics, at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. The David Eccles
School of Business offers programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and
doctoral level. Adjacent to the campus is a Research Park, home to more
than 30 technology-oriented businesses with close research and operational
ties to the University. Salt Lake City is known as a hotbed for
technology-oriented business startups that provide great opportunities for
student learning and research.
