    Dear Colleagues:

Please find at the following link - the just released University of San Francisco Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists' Confidence Index 2Q 2006 report

The quarterly Index measures the confidence that Bay Area VCs have in investing in new high-growth companies in the next 6 - 18 months - ideally serving as a leading indicator of future entrepreneurial activity.  We hope you may find it a useful reference for your entrepreneurship, venture capital or investment banking classes.  We welcome your comments on it.

The Index readings are also carried on Bloomberg network worldwide (ticker: USFSVVCI).

In brief, there was a decidedly lower overall level of Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists' confidence this quarter with regard to future investments in high-growth start-ups - primarily due to concern on potential over-valuations and fewer exit alternatives.

You can view a pdf copy of the full report at the above link, or we are pleased to send you one.

    best regards,

    Mark Cannice and Roger Chen
    University of San Francisco
