    Psychological Foundations of Management 2.0:
    Core Self-Evaluation, Hubris, and Humility

    Saturday, August 6 2016
    10:45am - 1:15pm
    Hilton Anaheim in Catalina 5

Sponsoring Divisions: BPS, ENT, and OB

At the AOM Annual Meeting in Vancouver, August 2015, the Professional
Development Workshop ?Psychological Foundations of Management: Core
Self-Evaluation, Hubris and Humility? has met with notable success
gathering more than 55 scholars from around the world. Building on
this previous experience, the follow-up PDW 2.0 aims to intensify
research on how specific psychological heuristics might be associated
with different sets of advantages or managerial traps. In this vein,
we ask: When does the ?bright side? of hubristic CEO emerge? What is
the ?dark side? of CEO humility? How do business owners and
entrepreneurs? core self-evaluations have some bearings on success and
    failure of new ventures?
Answers to these questions are instrumental in shaping more effective
strategic and entrepreneurial decision processes. In such a way, the
PDW intends to discuss some of the most relevant challenges we ought
to tackle in exploring the psychological foundations of management.

Part 2 of the PDW presents a set of roundtable interactions

foundations of management research are excellent occasions to share
    new ideas.
They encourage fruitful debate and lively discussions about a set of
pre-selected promising emerging research works stemming from the
investigation of scholars from throughout the globe.

Pre-registration is always required. ?Participants to Part 2 of the
PDW will be selected by the organizers: (a) on the relevance and fit
of their research with the PDW?s aims, as well as on the academic
quality and impact of their submissions. Part 2 of the PDW offers
space for 25-30 participants. The eligibility and submission
requirements are to submit in ONLY ONE PDF FILE: (1) a bio sketch or a
full CV; (2) the most recent version of their research paper or,
alternatively, an extended abstract (of about 1.000 words) of the
paper that they would like to discuss in the workshop; (3) a cover
letter clearly stating the question(s) with which they are struggling
    with.

The deadline for paper submissions and workshop registration is July 1, 2016.

The symposium is twin to another relevant research project, also aimed
to advance the existing debate on psychological heuristics and biases
of strategic leadership: the Symposium ntitled "Psychological
Heuristics and Biases in Management: Executives? Personality Traits
and Core Self-Evaluations", that is scheduled for Monday, August 8
2016, from 8:00am-9:30am at the Hilton Anaheim in Lido B.

Taken together, the two venues target to play an pivotal role in
building and enhancing a community of managementscholars and
