    Three Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

    Carlson School of Management

    The University of Minnesota

     

    The Strategic Management and Organization Department (SMO) of the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, seeks candidates for full-time faculty at the untenured level for positions in (1) international business, (2) organizational behavior, and (3) strategy.  Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must be ABD or have completed a doctorate and must demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality research that contributes to the management discipline.  Candidates at the untenured Associate level must have a completed doctorate, an active research program, and demonstrated record of high quality publications.  All applicants should be able to effectively teach at undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels. To apply submit the following documents: vita, a dissertation abstract, research paper(s), copies of any teaching ratings, and at least two letters of reference to the University of Minnesota's website at:  www1.umn.edu/ohr/employment/index.html (requisition # 141030) by Tuesday, October 31, 2006.  Positions will remain open until filled.

     

    The SMO department includes the academic areas of strategy, international management, entrepreneurship, organizational theory, and organizational behavior.  Recently ranked seventh nationally in research among business school management departments, SMO is comprised of faculty members Stuart Albert, Norm Bowie, Phil Bromiley, Michael DeVaughn, Daniel Forbes, Arik Lifschitz, Ian Maitland, Alfie Marcus, Tom Murtha, Mary Nichols, Harry Sapienza, Pri Shah, Myles Shaver, Andy Van de Ven, Aks Zaheer, Sri Zaheer, Shaker Zahra, and Mary Zellmer-Bruhn.  The department includes scholars with a wide variety of interests and backgrounds, and embraces a broad range of research approaches with a keen focus on quality scholarship.     Both the University of Minnesota and the Carlson School of Management are highly ranking in research and teaching.  The University of Minnesota is ranked sixth nationally for research among all private and public universities and the Carlson School was ranked 13th in research productivity (Academy of Management Journal, 2002). The Carlson School is also known for excellent teaching and innovative programs.  U.S. News and World Report ranks the Carlson School's full-time MBA program 23rd in the nation, the part-time MBA program 9th in the nation, and the Carlson Executive MBA 20th in the nation, and the undergraduate business program tied for 7th among public universities.  The Carlson School also has several acclaimed international programs including highly ranked executive programs in China, Poland, and Austria, providing international teaching and research options for faculty.
