Two Fully Funded PhD Positions in Analytical Sociology
The Institute for Analytical Sociology (IAS) seeks to fill two fully funded PhD positions (for four years full-time research) at Linköping University, Sweden.
IAS offers a unique doctoral training program in Analytical Sociology. You will be part of a small and highly selected cohort of graduate students who will receive theoretical and methodological training by working in close collaboration with some of the worlds’ leading scholars in Analytical Sociology. You will be part of a collegial team of interdisciplinary researchers who conduct cutting-edge research on important social, political, organizational, and cultural topics. Last year our faculty published in, among other journals, Academy of Management Journal, European Sociological Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Sociological Theory and Methods, etc.
To be eligible for the doctoral program you need to have a degree from an advanced-level/master program, or 240 ECTS (4 years) in courses, out of which at least 60 ECTS (1 year) must have been at the advanced/master level. 90 ECTS (1.5 years) must be in disciplines of direct relevance for Analytical Sociology, such as sociology, economics, organization theory, statistics, mathematics, or computer science.
The doctoral training consists of 240 ECTS, which is equivalent to four years of full-time studies-- one year (60 ECTS) of courses and three years of dissertation work. Throughout the program you will be employed at the IAS with a wage ladder set according to university standards (starting at about €2600/month, with full employment benefits). We strongly emphasize the importance of students developing their research skills not only through course attendance and dissertation work but also through scientific collaborations in research projects, as well as through seminar and conference presentations.
IAS is an internationally oriented research institute with researchers from several different academic disciplines. Knowledge of the Swedish language is not a requirement since all our courses and seminars are held in English.
