    Workshop Call

    Building Research & Publication skills

    Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The Social Impact Research Lab, the University of Dar es Salaam Business School, and the Schulich School of Business are committed to help improve the research skills and publication success of Tanzanian management scholars.

Consistent with this goal, a two-day workshop will occur on July 25-26th on the main campus of the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. The workshop will include leading international scholars and journal editors from North America and Europe (i.e. Dr. Garry Bruton, Dr. Geoffrey Kistruck, Dr. Justin Webb, Dr. Jeff McMullen, & Dr. Johanna Mair) who will discuss the keys to producing top quality research papers.

The workshop discussion will include topics such as how to leverage local phenomena to identify a promising research question, how to effectively incorporate theory within your manuscripts, and how to frame and structure your paper to maximize the chances of publication in top business journals. Additionally, participants will receive first-hand feedback on one of their current draft manuscripts from both international and local scholars. All meals will be provided, and some funds will be available to help defray accommodation costs for those attending from out of town.

Only 25 of the most promising scholars will be accepted for the workshop.

Participation in these workshops requires a firm commitment to attend the workshop for its duration, active participation in all discussions, and the reading of preliminary materials sent to you in advance. It is also a requirement for each attendee to submit a draft manuscript.

If interested in participating, please email a brief letter outlining your desire to attend the workshop, as well as a copy of your draft manuscript by May 20, 2016 to:
