    Announcement of Faculty Position in Entrepreneurship, Rank-Open

     

    The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Alabama</st1:placename></st1:place> is pleased to announce a tenure track position for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with research and teaching responsibilities in the area of Entrepreneurship.  Sub-specialties in Strategic Management, International Business and/or Organizational Behavior are desired but are not mandatory.  Applicants should hold or be completing a Ph.D. in Management by August 15, 2007.  A demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong research record, or the potential to develop such a record, is mandatory for appointment.  The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Alabama</st1:placename></st1:place> is a Ph.D. granting institution that has undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. level concentrations in the Entrepreneurship area.  We view the area of Entrepreneurship as a strategic priority for the department's future.

    <u1:place><u1:placetype></u1:placetype><u1:placename></u1:placename></u1:place>The primary teaching responsibilities will include courses such as Foundations of Entrepreneurship, New Venture Creation, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Family Business and Small Business Consulting.  Current course offerings in the Entrepreneurship program in the Department of Management include six undergraduate courses, two MBA level courses and two Ph.D. seminars.  An interest in high-quality, tier-1 research is essential - as is a dedication to, and a demonstration of, teaching excellence. 

     

    Support organizations include the <u1:place><u1:placename></u1:placename></u1:place>Bama Technology Incubator, The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute, the <st1:placename w:st="on">Small</st1:placename> <u1:placename><st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></u1:placename> <u1:placename><st1:placename w:st="on">Development</st1:placename></u1:placename> <u1:placetype><st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype></u1:placetype>, the Family Business Forum, and the <u1:place><u1:placename><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Alabama</st1:placename></st1:place></u1:placename></u1:place> <u1:placename><st1:placename w:st="on">International</st1:placename></u1:placename> <u1:placename><st1:placename w:st="on">Trade</st1:placename></u1:placename> <u1:placetype><st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype>.  </u1:placetype>A number of these resources have been in place for 20 years and are well established in the State and in the area.  The University has expressed a desire to expand entrepreneurship throughout the campus hand has supported the launch of a number of entrepreneurial initiatives.

     

    The <u1:place><u1:placetype><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place></u1:placetype></u1:place> of <u1:placename><st1:placename w:st="on">Alabama</st1:placename> offers state of the art research and teaching support including numerous multimedia classrooms, computer facilities, and database access.  The number of faculty members in the department is expanding and initiatives are supported by the administration.  Additionally, faculty members in the department frequently collaborate in research projects and work together to provide flexibility in teaching responsibilities.</u1:placename>
