    Call for Panel Proposals:
Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Higher Education
    http://www.deshpandesymposium.org

    Submission Deadline: January 31, 2016

Panel discussion proposals are now being accepted for the 5th Annual Deshpande Symposium for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Higher Education on June 13-15, 2016 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

National speakers and esteemed colleagues will discuss best practices and emerging opportunities along three intersecting tracks: Developing Entrepreneurial Universities, Culture & Ecosystems, Entrepreneurship in the Curriculum, and University Commercialization and Startups.

Example panel topics from last year's Symposium:

    • Hack-a-thons: Cross-Campus Entrepreneurial Fuel
    • Start-up Semester: Designing New Entrepreneurial Classroom Experiences
    • NSF I-Corps Program: Driving Commercialization of Federally-Funded Research

Last year's presentation topics, along with additional proposal submission information can be found on the Symposium website at www.deshpandesymposium.org

Interested in leading a panel or delivering a presentation on one of the Symposium topic areas?
Please submit your proposal abstract by the Panel Proposal Deadline: January 31, 2016.

    The Submission Process
Panel proposals should be related to at least one of the three Symposium tracks:

    • Developing Entrepreneurial Universities: Culture & Ecosystems
    • Entrepreneurship in the Curriculum
    • University Research Commercialization and Startups

We encourage the submission of full-panel proposals that include an identified Panel Moderator (usually the Proposal Submitter) and Speakers / Presenters from multiple institutions discussing their perspective / experience on the chosen panel topic. Individual presentation proposals will also be considered, and our selection committee will do their best to match selected individual presenters to the most appropriate panel based on their area of interest and panel availability. We recommend a maximum of 4 presentations per panel session, with no more than 10 minutes per presentation to allow additional time for questions. Presenters are encouraged to engage the audience in their discussion topics. All submissions should clearly identify the Symposium track with which they are aligned.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to your participation in the 2016 Symposium.

    About the Symposium
The Deshpande Symposium is a gathering of entrepreneurship visionaries and higher education professionals focused on accelerating innovation and entrepreneurship across the college and university environment. Hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the Deshpande Foundation, the 5th Annual Symposium will be held at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center in historic downtown Lowell, MA - birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.

The Symposium will feature a welcome reception, keynotes, several concurrent panel sessions, plus a dinner and awards ceremony recognizing excellence in entrepreneurship education. The Symposium provides a venue for attendees to learn from each other's experiences; to gain wider exposure for their ideas and to collaborate on activities that increase innovation and entrepreneurship in their communities.
