o Individuals outside the Academy who have contributed significantly to the development of the field of entrepreneurship, and
o Organizations outside the Academy who have contributed significantly to the development of the field of entrepreneurship.
Selection Criteria
Types of activities that the Award seeks to honor are:
A. Advocacy For Entrepreneurship As An Intellectual Discipline

Typical examples would include, but not be limited to, the creation of awards and prizes for research in the area, the development of research-oriented journals in the area, the creation and/or support of research conferences in the area, and the development of doctoral programs in the area.
B. Advocacy For The Teaching Of Entrepreneurship
This includes any and all activities that promote and/or support the idea that entrepreneurship is an activity or process that can and should be taught to all of those interested in starting their own businesses at some time in their lives. Typical examples would include, but not be limited to, the creation of Masters and undergraduate courses and curricula in the area, the development of centers or institutes that support or encourage teaching in the area, the creation of awards and prizes for teaching in the area, the development of teaching or professional journals in the area, the creation and/or support of teaching conferences in the area, and the development of teachers of entrepreneurship.

Candidates for the Award will be evaluated according to the magnitude of the contributions they have made to the field through the advocacy activities described above. Although no specific weights are attached to each of the areas, primary consideration should be given to advocacy activities that promote entrepreneurship as an intellectual discipline and/or the teaching of entrepreneurship, with strong secondary consideration given to activities that support the field in general. Individuals and organizations will be eligible to receive the Award only once during their lifetimes.
It is also important during the evaluation process to understand and to consider what the Award is NOT:
o The Award is not for research productivity in the field.
