      Department of Management

      Positions

      The Department of Management in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks applicants for two tenure-track positions. The rank is open for both positions. These positions require a strong research orientation and ability to teach general management courses as well as courses in a specialty area. Although applicants with expertise in any management discipline are encouraged to apply, we are particularly seeking applicants with specializations in organizational theory, organizational behavior or entrepreneurship. The start date for the positions is Fall 2008, pending budget approval.

      Qualifications for Assistant Professor
      § Required Qualifications: (1) ABD or Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, (2) a record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions (e.g., presentations at refereed, national, scholarly conferences) that is consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, (3) the potential to succeed in teaching and professional service activities, (4) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (5) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      § Preferred Qualifications: (1) ABD or Ph.D. from a College of Business with AACSB accreditation or another college in a university that is respected for excellence in the scholarly contributions of its faculty, and (2) skill, experience, and the desire to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      Qualifications for Associate Professor
      § Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, (2) a strong and consistent record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions (e.g. presentations at competitive, national and/or international, scholarly conferences) that is consistent with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, (3) national and/or international recognition in the field of management, (4) demonstrated success in teaching and professional service, (5) excellent verbal and written communication skills, and (6) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      § Preferred Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. from a College of Business with AACSB accreditation or another college in a university that is respected for excellence in the scholarly contributions of its faculty, and (2) skill, experience, and the desire to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      Qualifications for Full Professor
      § Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in management or a closely-related discipline, (2) a strong and consistent record of scholarly publications and other scholarly contributions (e.g., presentations at competitive, national and/or international, scholarly conferences) that is consistent with appointment at the rank of Full Professor, (3) national and/or international prominence in the field of management, (4) demonstrated ability to succeed in teaching, (5) demonstrated leadership in professional service, (6) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (7) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      § Preferred Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. from a College of Business with AACSB accreditation or another college in a university that is respected for excellence in the scholarly contributions of its faculty, and (2) skill, experience, and the desire to teach and mentor students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

      Department of Management
      The department consists of 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members from a variety of cultural backgrounds and diverse management disciplines. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in management and human resource management, as well as an M.B.A. concentration in health care management, and undergraduate options in international business and small business /entrepreneurship. The Ph.D. program is in its sixth year and currently has approximately 10 students in the management concentration. Recent graduates of the Ph.D. program have been hired at research and teaching-oriented universities.

      UTSA
      The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, and offers a variety of masters' programs, as well as Ph.D. programs in five areas including management. It ranks second in the nation in the number of bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanics in the United States. In addition, it ranks among the top 10 M.B.A. programs in the nation for minority students. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university that serves over 28,500 students. The university has the express goal of reaching a Carnegie Classification of doctoral/research extensive (Carnegie I) by 2010. San Antonio is located at the edge of the scenic Texas Hill Country and offers the amenities of a major, multicultural, metropolitan area. With a population of over 1.14 million, San Antonio is within a few hours drive of Austin, Dallas, Houston, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Mexican border.

      Salary and Benefits
      The salary and start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. UTSA offers an attractive package of benefits including medical and dental coverage plus a choice of participation in the Teacher Retirement System or an Optional Retirement System.
