Condensed BIO's:
Dr. Dean Shepherd is the Randall L. Tobias Chair in Leadership and Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. His research, in the field of entrepreneurial leadership, investigates both the decision making involved in leveraging cognitive and other resources to act on opportunities and the processes of learning from experimentation, in ways that ultimately lead to high levels of individual and organizational performance. Dean is one of the most published entrepreneurship and small business scholars in the world; he was recently ranked as the second most prolific entrepreneurship scholar of the last decade in a peer-reviewed survey of the literature. He has published, or has accepted for publication, approximately 95 peer-reviewed articles in the top entrepreneurship journals (Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice), the top general management journals (Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Management Science, Organization Science and the Strategic Management Journal), top general operations journal (European Journal of Operational Research) and top psychology journal (Journal of Applied Psychology). Dean currently serves as editor in-chief of the Journal of Business Venturing.
Dr. Michael Hitt is a distinguished professor of management at Texas A&M University and holds the Joe B. Foster Chair in Business Leadership. He has coauthored or co-edited 26 books and authored or coauthored many journal articles. A recent article listed him as "one of the ten most cited authors in management over a 25-year period," and as being "first among management scholars (tied), with the largest number of highly cited articles." Mike has served on the editorial review boards of multiple journals and is a former editor of the Academy of Management Journal. He is the current co-editor of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. He received the 1996 Award for Outstanding Academic Contributions to Competitiveness and the 1999 Award for Outstanding Intellectual Contributions to Competitiveness Research from the American Society for Competitiveness. He is a fellow in the Academy of Management and in the Strategic Management Society, a research fellow in the National Entrepreneurship Consortium and received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Mike is a former president of the Academy of Management, a past president of the Strategic Management Society and a member of the Academy of Management Journals' Hall of Fame.
