    SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY

DEPARTMENT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EMERGING ENTERPRISES

    Entrepreneurship PhD program applications

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises (EEE) at Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management is home to one of the world's leading group of researchers, focused on advancing scholarship in the field of entrepreneurship. We are now looking to further strengthen our research and invite applications from Ph.D. candidates, for FALL 2016 admission.

EEE is one of only a handful of academic departments devoted solely to entrepreneurship, and also one of the few to offer a doctoral degree in entrepreneurship. This places EEE in an exclusive position as more and more strategy and management departments evolve towards entrepreneurship. Accepted applicants to the program will have the opportunity to study under the supervision of a group of world leading scholars that includes: Alejandro Amezcua, Mike Haynie, Tom Lumpkin, Alex McKelvie, Maria Minniti, Todd Moss, Minet Schindehutte, Johan Wiklund and Trent Williams. Based on an annual survey of research productivity in the field of entrepreneurship published by TCU, the EEE team was responsible for Syracuse University being ranked #2 in the world for published research in entrepreneurship the two most recent years of the survey (2010 and 2011). The undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship programs are also among the top ranked in the United States.

The aim of our doctoral program is to provide candidates with a deep knowledge of the field of entrepreneurship, and the technical skills necessary to design and execute rigorous studies of the quality to be published in the leading entrepreneurship journals. We expect accepted candidates to complete their study within four years of admission to the program, and pursue careers at top Ph.D. granting academic institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

During your time as a doctoral candidate at EEE you can expect:

Waiver of all tuition fees during the four years of the program

A competitive annual stipend to cover your living expenses

A research education tailored for a future entrepreneurship scholar

The opportunity to do research together with the internationally renowned scholars of the department

Competent and dedicated guidance from those scholars

Experience as a university teacher in our nationally ranked entrepreneurship undergraduate program

A doctoral degree in entrepreneurship from Syracuse University offers you a whole host of opportunities for the future. In recent years more positions have been available than candidates pursuing jobs. The most recent PhD placements are David Gras who became Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Texas Christian University (graduated 2013) and Robert Nason who became Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Concordia University (graduated 2014).

Application deadline is January 15th 2016 for admission in the following Fall semester. All relevant information, including the application package is online at http://whitman.syr.edu/programs-and-academics/programs/whitman-phd-experience/index.aspx .
