The Academy of Management is growing and changing in character but the Code of Ethics (you know you have agreed to abide by it, right?) has stayed the same for many years. Come and join us on the last afternoon in Vancouver to review and discuss the Code. We will be joined by Benson Honig, Andy Crane, Academy of Management Discoveries and many others who are steering us on the way. This Caucus is relevant to new and old members alike from across the Divisions. See you there!

Please feel free to forward to others.
    Caucus co-presented by the
    Ethics Education Committee & SIM:
Ethics and Self-Governance in the Academy
    Program Session #: 1943 | Sponsor(s): (CAU)
Scheduled: Tuesday, Aug 11 2015 1:15PM - 2:45PM at Vancouver Convention Centre in Room 218

What challenging ethical issues do you face in your academic and professional lives, and as a member of the Academy? Are new issues emerging as your life and work enter the globally-connected digital world?

AOM's Code of Ethics (2006) outlines aspirational principles to guide members in professional lives and enforced standards that apply to activities within the Academy. While AOM members commit to uphold this Code; in reality, many are not familiar with it or do not see it as adequate to deal with dilemmas in today's changing environments. Based on the Ethics Education Committee's 2014 Open Forum and SIM's member survey, there are a number of open questions which we will seek to reflect on in this Caucus.

The structure of this session will involve spending the majority of the time in small groups. Five groups will focus on topics covered in the AOM Code of Ethics-- especially those where there may be a need to make some revisions to update the code. You can see from the highlighted Code here http://vision2lead.com/2015/06/going-to-aom-come-to-this-caucus/ how these topics relate to specific sections.

    Topics for group discussion are:
    • Global AOM Membership
    • Scholar -Practitioners, Management & Consulting Professions
    • Communication & Data in the Digital Age
    • Scholars as Role Models: Teaching & Supervising Research
    • The Publication Process
The Ethics Education Committee and SIM members will review notes from these small group meetings and collect recommendations. Join us and let your voice be heard!
