    POSITION TITLE

    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship in the Lee Business School.

     

    PROFILE of the UNIVERSITY

    UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 28,000 students and 2,900 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. The university has internationally recognized programs in hotel administration and creative writing; professional degrees in law, architecture, and dental medicine; and leading programs in business, engineering, fine arts, sciences and education.     ROLE of the POSITION

    The Executive Director will be the primary spokesperson for the CFE, and lead the design, development and implementation of university wide entrepreneurship curriculum, programming, competitions and other entrepreneurial related activities. The Executive Director will be expected to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as the CFE moves towards its goal of becoming a university wide resource. Building a university wide entrepreneurship steering committee will therefore be an essential, early goal for the new Director. Important internal relationship building includes continuing the successful collaboration with the Division of Research and Economic Development to commercialize university research, and expanding existing relationships with the Colleges of Engineering and Sciences to other colleges across campus. Important external relationship building includes creating/expanding the CFE advisory board, and working with the Southern Nevada entrepreneurship ecosystem, which includes groups such as the Downtown Project and Switch Innevation. Expanding current relationships with the local angel and venture capital investment community will also be critical. The Executive Director will be asked to lead the $500,000 student run Rebel Venture Fund and to teach entrepreneurship courses as needed. Fundraising for the CFE will be an important component of this position.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of 15 years related professional experience. Significant experience with new venture development, including startup, growth, maturity, and exit is a must. Significant experience with new venture financing, university technology transfer, fundraising, and interacting with the business community is also required. An interest in promoting/conducting entrepreneurship research is a plus.

     

    SALARY RANGE

    Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
