PDW: The Media and How to Publicize your Academic ResearchSaturday, August 8, 2:45-4:45pm
As our global connectivity soars, the media has become a tool that offers rapid exposure of ideas and a faster conduit between science and practice. Colleges and universities are increasingly pushing research into the public discourse, scholars are generating incredible numbers of Twitter followers and blogposts, and the media actively seek input from scholars to analyze anything from economic behavior to international conflict to CEO dismissals. However, in addition to the many opportunities, the media presents its own host of challenges. This PDW is designed for doctoral students and research scholars interested in understanding how to publicize their research and manage media relationships. In this interactive PDW, participants will begin to develop a "media action plan" inspired and guided by a panel of experts comprised of a diverse interdisciplinary faculty group and the AOM public relations consultant. Join us on Saturday, August 8th from 2:45-4:45pm for "The Media and How to Publicize your Academic Research".
Best regards,
Alex Mislin & Mary Kern
