Light and Dana (2013) suggest that social capital promotes entrepreneurship only when supportive cultural capital is in place. They conclude: "As a result, the existing entrepreneurs' social networks are inadvertently closed to nascent entrepreneurs from the wrong side of the ethno-racial divide, frustrating their entrepreneurship. Our results have implications for a broad range of situations involving entrepreneurship or the lack of it among propinquitous ethno-religious or ethno-racial groups in the developed as well as in the developing world (Light and Dana, 2013, p. 618)" This special issue welcomes further research on these issues.

Is this really now an ENT research stream, or a political discussion that belongs in the political science or sociology fields of study? I am all about bridging the sciences, but I do not understand this one. It is a negative bridge in my opinion. I may be uninformed, but I am not sure how we are going to, through ENT research, convince racist venture capitalists to fund minority-run enterprises that are going to be operated by persons that they have bias against. I believe research should inform practice (period).

The Light and Dana (2013) work is commendable. However, it is significantly descriptive.  I think we all "get it" from this great work.
I will cite it many times in my forthcoming article on 'positive research' - for lack of a better phrase.

I am a champion for the positive campaign to stop negative research and negative posts on the listserv in ENT. We all get what is going on in the World. Why dwell on it? Get your dose of Fox News (conservative television) and dwell on it, if you feel so inclined.

A special issue on why the classes do not support one another seems negative and just stirs up bad feelings. Again, I may be way wrong here, but this does not seem to be needed to be dwelled upon in our literature.

    Staying positive,

    Brian
