The purpose of this workshop is to introduce management researchers to the opportunities of Bayesian statistics for empirical management research and provide guidance on how to execute a high-quality Bayesian study. The PDW consists of the following elements: (1) Introduction of conceptual differences and potential advantages of a Bayesian approach compared to traditional statistical significance tests; (2) Outline of various steps of a Bayesian data analysis and interpretation of generated results for causal inference; (3) Guidance on how to develop meaningful prior distributions; and (4) Advice on how to communicate Bayesian analyses and results in research manuscripts. Finally, we will discuss why in spite of strong arguments supporting the use of Bayesian statistics, the field of management research has been very reluctant considering Bayesian analysis as an alternative. This workshop will enable and motivate participants to incorporate Bayesian statistics in their future research.
