The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor a Mid-Career Development Consortium during the 2015 Academy of Management meetings in Vancouver, Canada. This exciting event is designed to help Entrepreneurship scholars who have recently earned promotion and tenure, or who are applying this year, to develop a strategy for actively managing the next stage of their careers. The consortium is designed to be highly interactive and features Entrepreneurship Division members who have built successful careers in a variety of arenas and who will help their colleagues understand how to design a strategy to achieve each individual's goals be it in scholarly research, teaching, building or growing an Entrepreneurship center, or in academic administration.
Specific topics addressed in this consortium include:
- Post-tenure career management and setting the stage for the next chapter of your career
- Post tenure career choices and navigating the new political landscape
- Developing your post tenure research stream, the road to full professor and Entrepreneurship chairs
- Leading in academia: Moving into administration
- Leading in academia: Book and journal editorships, running conferences
- The global Entrepreneurship scholar
- The Entrepreneurship teacher
- Identifying and securing grants
- Working with doctoral students
Participants will have opportunities to engage in both panel and round table discussions to enable them to gather the information each individual needs to help build their career.
Participation is free of charge for participants and lunch will be provided thanks to The Entrepreneurship Division and our sponsor, The Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama.
This year's consortium is being chaired by Lou Marino (The University of Alabama) and Linda Edelman (Bentley University).
The consortium is limited to 40 participants and will be filled as applications are received. To apply, please email Lou Marino (
lmarino@cba.ua.edu) with "Mid-Career Development Consortium" as the subject line. The email should include your intent to participate, your university affiliation and you contact information.
Your email must be received by July 1, 2015.
