Dear Colleagues,
We wish to bring to your attention the symposium we are co-organizing with Dr. Monica Masucci at the forthcoming AOM conference on Governing Corporate Venturing Activities: Logics, Structures, and Practices
Program Session #: 1592 | Submission: 14479 | Sponsor(s): (ENT, BPS, TIM)
Scheduled: Tuesday, Aug 11 2015 8:00AM - 9:30AM at Vancouver Convention Centre in Room 212
Abstract: Although corporate venturing (CV) fosters strategic renewal and enhances firms' performance, governing CV activities raises significant challenges. Extant literature has highlighted the relevance of configurational choices regarding governance to the survival and performance of CV programs and corporate ventures. However, the determinants of such choices have been under-studied. The purpose of this symposium, that entails four paper presentations, is to uncover environmental, organizational, and managerial factors informing decisions on CV governance, as well as the adoption of specific structures, practices, and criteria that shape this process. Following the presentations, Vareska van de Vrande, a leading contributor to CV research, will serve as a discussant, reflecting on the insights provided by the four studies, and highlighting promising directions for future research.
