    Entrepreneurship Assistant Professor Announcement

     

    The University of South Dakota Beacom School of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year.  Academic entrepreneurial related activities include courses such as Entrepreneurship I and II, Small Business Management, and Special Topics courses in the Assistant Professor's area of expertise.  The Assistant Professor is expected to bring a unique and innovative education experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship.  As such, there is opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student business plan competition teams and working with the College Entrepreneurship Organization (CEO Club).  The appointment includes service related to Beacom entrepreneurship events and programming such as the i2i Business Innovation Competition and Entrepreneur-in-Residence program.  Contribution to the scholarship of entrepreneurship is also required. 

     

    Required: Ph.D. or equivalent in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field strongly preferred.  ABD will be considered. A Master's degree with significant industry or serial entrepreneurship related experience may also be considered.  Preference will be given to those with a terminal degree from an AACSB-International accredited institution.

     

    Also required are an ability to teach in entrepreneurship areas, experience working with classroom technology, experience and expertise in new ventures (entrepreneurship and innovation), record of or potential for scholarly activity, proficiency in oral and written communication, and dedication to engagement, service and the public good. The successful candidate will join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a commitment to these purposes.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: The best applicant will have a secondary area of teaching and scholarly interest that complements the development of entrepreneurship in the School.  Experience teaching in an online environment is preferred.  Duties include a teaching load of 18 credit hours (9 per semester) consisting of undergraduate and graduate courses and engaging in scholarly activity. Committee service for the Department includes mentoring students interested in entrepreneurship and business innovation, working with students in the CEO Club and student teams preparing for business plan competitions, and assisting with School entrepreneurship events, e.g., i2i Business Innovation Competition.
