    Hello everyone,

I am developing an entrepreneurship for engineering students and I am looking for advice and materials from those of you who have the same experience (syllabus, textbooks, experiential excersis, cases , etc.)

I have also been asked to  develop online modules on a variety of topics related to entrepreneurial thinking and entrepreneurship for engineering and science students. I would appreciate any information you can provide.

    Best,
    Golshan

Offering an open source course for engineering entrepreneurship.

In conjunction with the Canadian Innovation Centre, I developed an online course for technology entrepreneurship that was designed to complement support from a professor or entrepreneurship centre.  This was based on a course I designed and taught at the University of Waterloo, and was funded by the Canadian Government.

To recover the development cost, for the past two years we have offered the course to fund-seeking technology entrepreneurs in Ontario, charging each company $500 for access for their company.  I am pleased to report that over 200 companies were able to attract funding based on participation in the program.

We made the decision to offer it for free to Engineering and Business Schools in Canada, and launched this free version in Ontario last week - under the name Accelerate. We are currently working to offer it in the US through VentureWell.

In the short term, we would be happy to invite other faculty to look at the course, and if they like it, to sign up their students. We are very interested in building a global community of faculty who will collaborate with us on creating additional resources (watch the AoM listserve for an announcement about what we are planning in Vancouver). Please let me or Josie Graham if you would to look at or join the site.  It is meant to be accessed through a faculty or entrepreneurship centre, rather than directly by students. That way we can create a community of users, and provide the local level of support to guide potential entrepreneurs through the process.  The course is designed to both meet the academic requirements for an Engineering degree, and provide practical guidance for those starting their own ventures.
