    As Professor in Social Entrepreneurship you will further advance and profile U.S.E.’s teaching and research towards high quality multidisciplinary economics by highlighting social entrepreneurship as a relevant mechanism in modern societies and by providing direct linkages to the practical and applied side of economics.
    The educational focus of this position will be on the Sustainable Entrepreneurship course offered by U.S.E. at the Master level, modules in the courses that form the Bachelor Minor Social Entrepreneurship and internships, bachelor and master theses in the social entrepreneurship domain. The professor will collaborate closely with experts in fields related to social entrepreneurship within and outside U.S.E.
    In terms of individual research interests and expertise, the professor of Social Entrepreneurship is expected to fit into the U.S.E. programme of multidisciplinary research. Apart from its own research, we expect the professor to play a stimulating role in promoting research environment and to engage in activities aimed at attracting external research funding (2nd and 3rd stream funding). Additional duties will include stimulation and supervision of (PhD) research resulting in theses and publications and the transfer of knowledge to society by organising events, such as conferences and workshops.
    The professor of Social Entrepreneurship will be established on a part-time basis. Cooperation in teaching and research within U.S.E. as well as with other groups within Utrecht University that are of relevance to the domain of social entrepreneurship is expected.

    Candidates are expected to hold a doctorate in economics or related field and to have a strong track record in research, demonstrated among others by publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Candidates are expected to have experience with a multidisciplinary approach to the field of social entrepreneurship and to have strong linkages with the (social) business community. Candidates should have a record of achievement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and administration, and demonstrable skills in the acquisition of external funding. Good communicating skills and excellent command of spoken and written English are required. While all teaching is in English, non-Dutch applicants are nevertheless expected to learn Dutch.

    USE offers a temporary position for 5 years in an attractive international working environment . Salary depends on qualifications and experience and ranges from € 5,103 to € 8,971 (scale H2 –H1 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month, excluding holiday and end-of-year allowance. An appealing tax regime may apply to applicants from abroad. In addition, Utrecht University offers excellent secondary conditions, including an attractive retirement scheme.
    Employment for a PhD student on the topic Social Innovation in Value Chains is within the bounds of possibility.
