I am writing to inform you about the availability of PhD positions at the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and to ask for your assistance in promoting them.
Our PhD positions cover a 3-year full time programme designed for highly qualified and motivated students who wish to acquire high level research and analytical skills.
Our programme combines insights from a variety of disciplines related to the field of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering and it emphasizes the abilities to integrate different approaches in order to create a sound and challenging research path.
The Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano invites applicants to send their expressions of interest for a three-year position as a PhD scholar (10 fully founded scholarships available) starting from November 2015. Outstanding candidates from all over the world will be pre-selected and will be asked to apply through our annual PhD public call which will be published around Mid-April 2015.
We are looking for candidates with strong analytical and methodological skills as well as an interest in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering.
The positions requires candidates able and eager to engage and apply both qualitative and quantitative methods.
The PhD student will be enrolled at Doctoral School of Politecnico di Milano as full-time candidate (www.dottorato.polimi.it/en).
The Doctoral Program is personalized to reflect the intellectual interests of the students, while capitalizing on the strengths of our entrepreneurship faculty. Candidates will be offered the opportunity to generate and publish research with faculty mentors and receive active support in facilitating their own research.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, office space and access to library and software facilities. An annual travelling allowance is also provided and a compulsory study abroad period in a foreigner institution is required. Opportunities of teaching and tutoring MSc students are also foreseen.
Academic Requirements
To be deemed academic eligible, the candidate should have obtained a specialised training at the Master of Science level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process).
The applicants must be fluent in English and language proficiency certificates must be submitted at the time of application.
To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the successful candidate is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the research activities of the Department.
The programme is highly international and the successful candidates will be expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student.

POLIMI PhD graduates are held in high esteem not only in academia and research institutions but also in government and business where their research qualifications are increasingly demanded.
Our Department has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programmes.
A committee of experts in the field in question will assess the applications once the public call will close around mid-May.
The assessment of the applicants will be based on the quality and relevance of the project and their CV. Following an interview, the management of the department will select the successful candidates.
