Two positions as Postdoctoral research fellow in technology-based entrepreneurship are available at the University of Nordland Business School.
Business School
University of Nordland Business School (formerly Bodø Graduate School of Business) is the third largest business school in terms of PhD education in Norway. Our PhD program has currently 25 students and 53 PhD candidates have graduated over the last 12 years. We have 1,500 students, 120 scientific and 12 administrative employees.
Research group
University of Nordland Business School harbors one of Europe's largest research groups in entrepreneurship and innovation comprising more than 20 faculty members and 12 PhD students. The university has become a gathering place for entrepreneurship scholars, including the 2011 RENT conference, the 2014 Nordic Conference on Small Businesses, and the 2016 Babson (BCERC) and Diana Conferences. Faculty members include Lars Kolvereid, Gry Alsos, Tommy Clausen, Einar Rasmussen, Espen Isaksen, as well as Adjunct Professors such as Johan Wiklund, Paul Westhead, Candida Brush, Andrew Zacharakis, Alexander McKelvie and Sara Carter.
About the positions
The research group has a strong research profile within technology-based entrepreneurship with research efforts that are both phenomenon oriented (e.g. examining different aspects of technology-based entrepreneurship) and theory oriented (e.g. using technology-based entrepreneurship as a context to advance management and entrepreneurship theory). The research group has an ambitious publishing plan and the right candidates are strongly expected to contribute to achieve this.
The Post Doc positions are concerned with developing and conducting research related to several comprehensive data sources covering innovative firms and start-ups as part of ongoing research activities in the research group. One activity includes building a unique large scale database covering all science-based new ventures in Norway. The data collection in under way and the candidate will be part of a research team led by Associate Professor Einar Rasmussen. The research is carried out in collaboration with several leading scholars on science-based entrepreneurship worldwide. The candidate is expected to contribute to the structuring and analysis of the database and to publishing the results in the leading scholarly journals in the field.
Applicants should have completed a PhD in Business, Management, or equivalent within the last 3 years. Applicants completing their PhD before summer 2015 can also apply. Applicants should have experience in working with large complex databases and carrying out sophisticated multivariate analyses. The positions are particularly well suited for candidates with interest in the following topics: science-based or high technology entrepreneurship, university technology transfer, incubation firms, innovation projects in firms, process studies of new and innovative ventures, multi-level and longitudinal datasets. The positions are ideal for persons that wants to develop a strong network and publication track record in these areas. Excellent conditions for research including funding for travel and student assistants can be expected for motivated candidates.
Although the primary duties of the positions are within research, the candidates are expected and encouraged to be active members of the Business School's faculty, including teaching, outreach and administrative responsibilities. The contract will be for a two-year period, until summer 2017, and the work is to be carried out on location in Bodø, Norway, a growing university town in an area of great natural beauty (visitbodo.wips.no/en).
