I saw this post on a different AoM listserv, and I thought I would pass it on to ENTREP as an excellent example of "End User Modification" ala Mary Tripsas. Clearly the makers of Bratz dolls should take note...
"A current viral video is about Sonia Singh, a woman in Tasmania who finds old and broken dolls with sometimes exaggeratedly sexy faces and makes them into dolls who reflect normal eight-year-olds (no makeup etc.) It is something that might really spark classroom discussion: that a single unemployed 31-year old woman could present such possibilities, combining recycling with addressing gender stereotypes and hyperseuxalization of toys for girls, etc. The woman realizes that this is something that is a business opportunity but she does seem to be able to take next steps including developing a business plan. Hmmm, that is nice since it is an opening for students to step in. Though her Tumbler site suggests she is putting some redone dolls on the Etsy.com crafts site etc. The video is at: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=759402657487700&fref=nf . Sonia's Tumbler site is the most current and direct to consider this: http://treechangedolls.tumblr.com/ .
