Baylor University Associate/Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship
The Department of Entrepreneurship in the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University is seeking applicants for a faculty position in Entrepreneurship. We will consider applicants at the Professor, Associate, or Assistant Professor (with several years of experience on the tenure track) levels. Candidates must have an excellent record of research in entrepreneurship with publications in top entrepreneurship and related journals and a desire to advise Ph.D. students and teach at the doctoral level. A strong secondary interest in strategic management is desired, as the successful applicant may be asked to teach strategy courses.
Publications such as U.S. News and World Report and Entrepreneurship magazine consistently recognize Baylor Entrepreneurship in their rankings of top programs. The Department of Entrepreneurship is comprised of nearly 30 faculty and staff, and is home to one of the leading entrepreneurship journals; Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. It also includes one of the first entrepreneurship centers in the country - the Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise, and other units such as the Institute for Family Business, the Baylor Angel Network, and the Entrepreneurship Living and Learning Center.
Baylor is both Texas' oldest institution of higher learning and the world's largest Baptist University. A private institution, Baylor enrolls over 15,000 students drawn from all parts of the world, of which over 3,300 are enrolled in the Hankamer School of Business. Baylor University is known for its academic excellence and ranks among the nation's top one percent in the number of freshman National Merit Scholars enrolled. Located on the banks of the Brazos River in Waco, Texas (a metro population of over 200,000), the city offers a favorable cost of living and a high quality of life.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited program and hold current status of Associate or Assistant Professor. Tenure track applicants should have several years of experience. All applicants should possess a record of publications in leading journals over a significant period of time as well as demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching in the areas of entrepreneurship and/or strategic management. Prior experience with teaching doctoral students is a plus. A commitment to collaboration and collegiality within the department, school, and university is critical. Practical experience as an entrepreneur is also desirable.
