Business Creativity and the Creative Economy
Statement of Purpose
The title of this new journal is Business Creativity and the Creative Economy. The Inaugural Issue is scheduled for Fall of 2014, in both print and online formats.
The rationale for this new journal is obvious. Creativity is a fascinating subject matter, and the research on creativity is compelling reading, and it is an enormously practical subject matter. After all, creativity plays a critical role in business, innovation, product development, entrepreneurship, and organizational climate, services, procedures, productivity, and longevity. Not surprisingly, the amount of research directed at business creativity and closely related subjects has increased dramatically in the past decade.
The title of this journal includes "The Creative Economy." That could be plural, given that discussions of this topic frequently refer to creative economies. Certainly articles comparing creative economies, or focusing on one in particular, are appropriate manuscripts for Business Creativity.
Manuscripts may focus on creativity in business, or the creative economy, or both. It is not necessary that every article offers conclusions about the creative economy; some may focus on single organizations or businesses. Indeed, this journal was founded because the Creativity Research Journal was receiving so many articles on innovation, teams, brainstorming, organizational climate and culture, management, entrepreneurship, and the like. Whence Business Creativity was born.
