    Fort Hays State University has an immediate need to fill up to TWO positions for this coming Fall Semester due to an increase in student enrollment.
    ABD Candidates and recent graduates who desire to develop their teaching portfolio are encouraged to apply.

    College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE)

    Position 1: Instructor of Management

    Position: The position is a 9-month instructor position starting August 2014, with opportunity to compete for a new approved-and-budgeted tenure-track position that will be advertised in Fall 2014 and start in 2015. Responsibilities include teaching four three-hour courses (12 credit hours) per semester at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate level. Some courses may need to be developed and delivered using the Internet, video and/or other interactive technologies. Additionally, candidates are required to be engaged in scholarly activities, and to render service to the profession and to the College of Business & Entrepreneurship. Normal annual faculty evaluation is based on teaching (60%), research (20%), and service (20%).

    Qualifications: A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Management, or a related field is preferred. D.B.A. faculty candidates must have research-based doctoral studies and have an established track record of research. Ph.D. ABD faculty candidates should have expectations to finish dissertation work within three years of initial ABD status, and must have demonstrated research potential. A record of successful teaching is desirable. Faculty candidates who are considered academically qualified under college accreditation guidelines will receive strongest consideration. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching a variety of core Management courses; a variety of Management sub-discipline research and teaching specialties will be acceptable. Preference will be given to faculty candidates showing interest in growing a project management or lean systems certificate program, or who have additional expertise or interest in entrepreneurship. Successful candidates will have consented to and successfully completed a criminal background check.

    Salary and Benefits: Salary is competitive for educational qualifications. Benefits include medical, life, and contributory TIAA-CREF or similar retirement systems.

    The Department: The Department of Management and Marketing has 16 faculty members with approximately 750 upper-level students enrolled. Functional business specialties of Management, HRM, Marketing, Tourism & Hospitality Management, Corporate Communication, Training & Development, and Business Education are included in the Department.

    The College: The College of Business and Entrepreneurship is seeking additional international accreditation, and offers programs through the MBA level. Business degree programs include the general MBA and undergraduate majors in Management, Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Business Education, Finance, and International Business and Economics.

    The University: FHSU is a comprehensive regional university responsible for service to the western two-thirds of the State of Kansas, and beyond. It has an approximate enrollment of more than 12,000 students with 5,000 students on campus. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of majors, including professional programs like teaching, business, and nursing.

    The Community: Hays has a population of approximately 20,000 excluding the University. It is located mid-way between Kansas City and Denver on Interstate 70. It offers many amenities both cultural and recreational that make it an ideal place to live and enjoy community life.

    POSITION 2: Virtual College (VC) Instructor of Management

    Position: The position is for a 9-month instructor of management role, starting August 2014, with primary responsibilities as online instruction. Additional on-campus responsibilities require employment location to be Hays, Kansas.  Instructional responsibilities include teaching five three-hour online courses (15 credit hours) per semester at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate level. Some courses may need to be developed and delivered using the Internet, video and/or other interactive technologies. Occasional on-campus instruction responsibilities might exist. Additionally, candidates are required to be engaged in scholarly activities (or other activities to maintain professional qualifications in the College of Business & Entrepreneurship), and to render service to the department, the College, and the profession. Normal annual faculty evaluation for this role is based on teaching (75%), maintenance of professional qualification or research (15-20%), and service (5 - 10%).

    Qualifications: A Master's degree in management, MBA, or a related field is required, with a record of significant ongoing professional business experience. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Management, or a related field is preferred. D.B.A. faculty candidates should have research-based doctoral studies and have an established track record of research or professional business experience. Ph.D. ABD faculty candidates should have expectations to finish dissertation work within three years of initial ABD status, and must have demonstrated research potential. A record of successful teaching is desirable. Faculty candidates who are considered academically qualified under college accreditation guidelines will receive strongest consideration. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching a variety of core Management courses in a distance learning mode; a variety of Management sub-discipline teaching, research, and professional specialties will be acceptable. Preference will be given to faculty candidates showing interest in extending faculty capacity or expertise in entrepreneurship, project management, or lean systems.  Successful candidates will have consented to and successfully completed a criminal background check.
