    ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPENING 

    DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, College of Business and Economics

    POSITION:  Faculty member of the Management programs: One tenure-track Assistant Professor position.                     

    STARTING DATE:  September, 2015. 


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education.  Experience and expertise in entrepreneurship and the ability to teach in a related field, e.g. strategic management, joint ventures, etc..  Candidates should provide record of or potential for scholarly activity, and effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication, and an ability or interest in teaching in a multicultural, multiethnic environment. 


    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The best applicant will have a secondary area of teaching and scholarly interest that complements the current faculty.  Areas of need include one or more of the following:  corporate social responsibility, management and leadership, health care management. 


    DUTIES:  In addition to teaching, duties include engaging in scholarly activity, curriculum and program management, student advisement, and committee service for the Department, the College, and the University.

    Henry B. Tippie College of Business

    Position in Entrepreneurship

     

    The Department of Management and Organizations at The University of Iowa invites applicants for a tenure-track or

    tenured position in Entrepreneurship. All ranks will be considered. Fellowships or professorships may be available for

    tenured positions based on experience and record of achievement. New hires are expected to start August 17, 2016.

     

    Qualifications: Applicants must have 1) an established record or demonstrated potential for publishing significant research

    in top-tier journals, 2) a demonstrated high level of teaching competence, and 3) an earned Ph.D. in Management or a

    related field (by the start date). The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both Entrepreneurship and either

    Strategic Management or Organizational Behavior. A demonstrated competence in teaching in any of the following areas

    is desirable: entrepreneurship, strategic management, innovation, or change. This scholar can expect to be involved in

    our thriving doctoral program, through both teaching and research, and in the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.

    Department: The Management & Organizations department has 14 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, including: Ken

    Brown, Jay Christensen-Szalanski, Amy Colbert, Eean Crawford, Brady Firth, Maria Kraimer, Amy Kristof-Brown, Ning Li,

    Mick Mount, Ernest O'Boyle, Sara Rynes, Scott Seibert, Greg Stewart, and Ion (Bodi) Vasi (joint appointment with

    Sociology). In addition, we have multiple outstanding clinical and visiting faculty and lecturers. The department offers

    undergraduate majors in Entrepreneurial Management, Leadership and Management, and Human Resource

    Management.

     

    The department is known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service to the profession, as well as its supportive

    and engaging environment. Faculty members regularly serve as editors of major journals (including former editors of

    Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Learning and Education, a current Associate Editor at

    AMJ, and several former Associate Editors at Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of

    Management.) Faculty members have won numerous research awards, and maintain leadership positions in various

    divisions of the Academy of Management. The department has also been recognized for teaching effectiveness, with

    The department houses the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, the first in the nation to bring together students and

    Additionally, the university is regularly rated as one of the top 25 Entrepreneurship programs in the United States by

    Entrepreneur Magazine and The Princeton Review.

     

    College and Community: The Henry B. Tippie College of Business is housed in the Pappajohn Business Building, which

    features the Marvin A. Pomerantz Business Library, technology-equipped classrooms, and a behavioral research lab. The

    Iowa City area community includes Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, and other small towns with a total population of about
