ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Suffolk University in Boston, MA
Suffolk University's Sawyer Business School is seeking faculty candidates to join us in our dynamic and high-growth Entrepreneurship program that is part of our Management and Entrepreneurship Department. The ideal candidate will deliver high quality research and teaching in Entrepreneurship, as well as being an active participant in our Center for Entrepreneurship. This position requires a completed Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship (preferred) or Strategy and a proven track record in related research and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong practical entrepreneurial background.
The Management and Entrepreneurship Department consists of 14 full-time faculty. We encourage and engage in cross-collaboration within our department, as well as with other departments in the Sawyer Business School. In addition, our commitment to research is evidenced by our five-course teaching load (reduced to four courses for the first year) per academic year (undergraduate and graduate) as well as grants and benefits afforded to faculty research initiatives. Our Entrepreneurship Program became nationally ranked within its first five years of existence. Our student-centric curriculum includes a major and minor in Entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level (400 students) and a concentration at the graduate level (200 students). The undergraduate program focuses on launching new ventures, as well as being entrepreneurial thinkers in startups or larger existing organizations. The graduate program focuses on entrepreneurial thinking and innovation in medium to large organizations.
Entrepreneurship at Suffolk University is further supported by our Center for Entrepreneurship within the Sawyer Business School that serves as a location for our students, faculty and alumni to collaborate on new venture creation. The Center includes staffing, meeting space, workstations, and software to enhance our student and alumni entrepreneurial ambitions. In addition, our program has interdisciplinary courses with Suffolk Law School where law and business school undergraduate and graduate students participate in a co-taught practicum. Our global programs include Entrepreneurship travel seminars in Italy and Israel, as well as other collaborations with innovative colleges and universities. Our residence life Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community creates a 24/7 entrepreneurial experience for our incoming freshmen. Our program includes the New Product Innovation Competition, clubs and service organizations, Entrepreneurship Month, as well as our Annual E-Vent. Our program's goal is to serve as a resource to all majors across all schools at Suffolk University, as well as fulfill our social ambitions with the community as a whole. Suffolk University is located downtown Boston, Massachusetts – a leading hub of entrepreneurship, in addition to having other satellite locations, both regionally and globally.
