Call For Applications: Mid-Career Faculty Consortium 2014

The International Management Division of the Academy of Management is organizing a Mid-Career Faculty Consortium on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the 2014 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The session will be between 12:00pm and 3:30pm.

The Mid-Career Faculty Consortium is for "mid-career" faculty (those with at least five years of academic experience up to recent full professors) who are looking for strategies to develop, renew or maintain their ability to successfully publish international research.

The purpose of this Consortium is to assist mid-career faculty who are interested in refreshing their research focus on international management as well as those considering a change in their research direction towards more international research. A panel of distinguished faculty will provide their perspectives on how to manage this stage of career complexity, and discuss professional challenges, problems, and opportunities facing faculty advancing into their Associate and early Full Professor years. Panelists will also share views on topics ranging from editorial roles, sabbaticals, leadership in professional organizations, changing institutions, executive education, conference organization, administrative roles, and working with doctoral students. The expertise of the panelists encompasses both macro and micro approaches to international research, as well as deep knowledge pertaining to a variety of areas around the world.

    Tentative Format of the Consortium
The Consortium will take place over one afternoon, beginning at 12:00pm and ending at 3:30pm. Lunch will be served from 12:00pm to 12:30pm, during which there will be opportunities for informal networking. The main program will begin at 1:00pm and consist of two parts. From 12:30pm to 2:30pm, the invited panelists will give presentations on specific topics, followed by a question and answer session. The second part will take place between 2:30pm to 3:30 pm, and involve small group discussions led by the panelists.

Participating faculty panelists include prominent scholars in the field of International Management:

Mona Makhija, The Ohio State U. (Chair)

    Jone Pearce, U. of California-Irvine
    Subramanian Rangan, INSEAD
