Lehigh University seeks applications for a full-time (12-month) non-tenure track Professor of Practice to work with diverse sets of students and young entrepreneurs– through both academic and non-academic engagements-accelerating their entrepreneurial  mindsets, skills and pursuits.  The PoP will: (1) teach undergraduate hands-on entrepreneurship capstone startup courses, and other undergraduate and/or graduate courses related to entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, creativity, design thinking, or innovation to be identified; (2) mentor student startups; (3) collaborate with other faculty to continuously refine and diversify the curricula and extracurricular programs; and (4) direct and help Lehigh conceptualize and build (depending on the successful applicant's expertise) either (A) a startup accelerator; or (B) a biomedical innovation workshop series in partnership with clinical practitioners; or (C) a bench-to-market program aimed at improving the impact and commercial and/or socially-oriented value of the work of university's research laboratories. The position is part of a university-wide entrepreneurship program of students and faculty from across the spectrum of academic disciplines and backgrounds.

Lehigh, founded in 1865, is among the nation's most selective, highly ranked research universities.  Lehigh's four colleges provide graduate and undergraduate education to about 7000 students from across the globe.  The rich cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the scenic Lehigh Valley are complemented by close proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia.

The position is affiliated with Lehigh's Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation (www.lehigh.edu/entrepreneurship), which aims to nurture a culture of entrepreneurship across the university, promote innovative thinking, and foster the realization of entrepreneurial ideas in any field. The Baker Institute is regularly ranked among the top 25 undergraduate entrepreneurship programs nationally by Princeton Review and Entrepreneurship Magazine --#20 in 2013--and was #12 in BusinessWeek's 2013 rankings.  The successful candidate will join a rapidly growing and robust team of faculty from a wide array of fields leading and teaching in our programs and 5 dedicated Baker Institute support staff.  In addition to the undergraduate curricula, our programs include a Master's of Technical Entrepreneurship, MBA in Corporate Entrepreneurship, executive education VENTURESeries, student startup incubation activities and funding, and field immersion offerings in Silicon Valley, Boston, and New York.

Candidates should have at least a BS or BA degrees in engineering, science, design, or business, plus terminal or advanced degrees (including Ph.D., MD, JD, MBA, MFA, M Engr, or MS) in these areas or equivalent real-world experience in entrepreneurial start-ups, innovation, and new product development leading to commercialization of hardware and/or software.  Candidates should also have familiarity with entrepreneurial support services and funding mechanisms. Demonstrated commitments to excellence in teaching and mentoring and to working with people across a wide range of disciplines are critical attributes.

Review of applications will begin March 17, 2104.  Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching and mentoring interests, recent teaching evaluations (if available), and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted . All materials must be submitted electronically to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/3851. Inquiries may be directed to Prof. Todd A. Watkins (taw4@lehigh.edu).
