Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice Teaching Cases

When ET&P began publishing teaching cases some 20+ years ago, there were very few outlets for cases, especially in entrepreneurship.  Since then new journals have emerged; other case publishing venues have emerged, grown (merged in some cases), have become more technologically advanced, and now provide fast, efficient case dissemination.  During the same period, the journal has experienced growth both in manuscript flow and number of issues published per year.  ET&P has also been included in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), and we began to use Manuscript Central for submissions.  These are just a few highlights among the many changes.  As usual, this growth and change has produced some challenges in operations and other problems.  For the past several years, we have been exploring options to deal with these and to position the journal as best we can in the changing environment and for the future.

We are pleased to have published or scheduled for publication 65 cases thus far, with more still in the review process.  Regrettably however, we have decided to no longer accept the submission of teaching cases for publication in the journal.  Cases submitted by midnight December 31, 2013 and those already in the system will continue to be processed and, if accepted, published in the journal until there are none remaining.  Those submitted January 1, 2014 and thereafter will be handled differently as noted below.  This was a very difficult decision that was based upon much information and discussion.

Beginning January 1, 2014, new case submissions will be submitted electronically to Kay Keels, the Case Editor at jkeels@coastal.edu .  She will continue to oversee the review process, but outside of Manuscript Central.  If/when a case is accepted, it will be published on the new ET&P website ( http://www.baylor.edu/business/etp/ )and made available to the community.  We will continue to store the teaching notes offline and provide them upon request to professors.  In this way, we can continue to support the field by providing cases, which will have been peer-reviewed under the auspices of the journal.  The new method will also permit the author(s) to retain copyright to the case.

    Best Regards,

    ETP Editorial Office
