    Dear colleagues,

We are in the process of setting up an incubator as well as an accelerator in our university catering to the needs of all the three schools - business, engineering and social sciences.

Can you please share some examples of Non-tech incubators and/or accelerators to look at? We want to learn from their business models.

We have failed to find anything other than the typical tech incubators.

I would add: if you can, please share what type of agreements accelerators have with the start-ups. I believe a convertible note is most frequent, isn’t it? Any example?

    Dear Muhammad,

You may find my recent article on accelerators helpful (link below). While it does not examine university-run programs, it does provide some details about how accelerators operate.

    Dear Rene,

Many accelerators use Convertible debt for part of their funding (The note does not always come from the accelerator, but rather from other investors). YCombinator just switched to an agreement they termed, "SAFE". Here are details:  http://ycombinator.com/safe/

TechStars makes all of their legal documents available on their website, including a convertible debt template.  You can find them here:  http://www.techstars.com/docs/
