ONE Best Book Award
Sub-committee: Prof David Vogel (Chair), Prof Magali Delmas, Prof Alfred Marcus
This award recognizes the best book published in the previous three years in the area of ONE. The award is sponsored by the Sustainable Enterprise Partnership, with a prize of $500.
Books must be new books and not new editions of previously published works. Edited books are eligible for this award, as long as they have a research focus in the ONE field and a value-add overview chapter by the editors. Nominated books will be judged on originality in substance and approach, significance for scholarly/policy debate in the field, rigor in approach or analysis, and readability.
ONE Best Dissertation Award
Sub-committee: Dr. Sara Soderstrom (Chair), Dr Natalie Slawinski, Dr Jeffrey York
This award recognizes the best doctoral dissertation in the area of ONE for dissertations that have been defended between May 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014. The award carries a prize of $1,000 (sponsorship to be confirmed).
Dissertations must focus on some aspect of organizations and the natural environment, and conducted by a member of the ONE division. Nominations (which consist of extended abstracts) will be evaluated and selected finalists will be asked to submit their full dissertations. Dissertations of finalists are judged on relevance, scholarly contribution, theoretical and methodological rigor, as well as practical implications.
ONE Distinguished Scholar Award
Sub-committee: Prof Dev Jennings (Chair), plus two others to be confirmed
Newly launched this year, this award will recognize a prominent scholar whose contributions have been central to the development of the field of environmental management and have had a significant impact on ONE scholarship. The award is sponsored by Greenleaf Publishing, with a prize of $500.
This award seeks to acknowledge scholars who have taken a leadership role in the field of ONE by opening up lines of thinking or inquiry. The distinguished scholar is someone who has started conversations, built up or extended the ONE community, contributed new ideas and scholarship to the field, and has spanned disciplinary boundaries. For example, such a scholar may have started or moved forward a journal or scholarly series, established research centers or networks, developed foundational research concepts, or been particularly active in training and mentoring those new to the field.
ONE Emerging Scholar Award
Sub-committee: Dr Dror Etzion (Chair), Dr Nicole Darnall, Prof Volker Hoffman
This award recognizes early career academics who have already made outstanding research contributions in the area of ONE, and have a strong potential to continue making such contributions. The award is sponsored by Cambridge University Press and the ONE division, with a prize of $1,000.
Emerging scholar nominees must be within six years of receiving his/her PhD (or other terminal degree) and been a member of good standing with ONE for the past three years. The emerging scholar's overview statement and corpus of research will be assessed on the work's relevance, its academic contribution, theoretical and methodological rigor, and information solicited from third-party experts.
ONE-NBS Research Impact on Practice Award
Sub-committee: Maya Fischoff (Chair), Prof Tima Bansal, plus a practitioner appointed by the Network for Sustainability's Leadership Council.
This award recognizes a piece of contemporary, peer-reviewed research that has important implications for practice in any social or environmental sustainability dimension of business. The award is sponsored by the Network for Business Sustainability (NBS), with a prize of $500.
Research must have been published within the previous calendar year, and the description of the implications for practice should be in language that is accessible to knowledgeable sustainability practitioners. Research will be assessed on the rigor and quality of the data that may be quantitative or qualitative, and the relevance of the topic to the business community.
We hope to see your submissions and nominations pouring in soon. Thank you for your interest!
