  • 1.  MicroVenture Class Collaboration

    Posted 09-26-2013 22:31
    Good morning -

I am looking for other professors anywhere in the world teaching similar courses to the ones I teach to collaboratively deliver these classes in Fall 2014. Here are quick explanations of the two courses I teach - if either is similar to yours, please contact me at dwinkel@ilstu.edu so we can talk about collaborating for our students' mutual benefit:

    1. I teach an idea modeling course using Alex Bruton's Super Hunch Sketch Pad (http://theinnographer.com/toolkit/super-hunch/). General structure is students work in groups and spend the first 1/2 of the course iterating on ideas for how to take advantage of an opportunity that local organizations bring to them. The second 1/2 of the course, they put a bit of a financial and human capital implementation plan together. Student groups iteratively pitch their ideas and plans about 5-6 times throughout the semester to members of the local organizations and also local business folks. So at the end of the course the organizations receive a write-up of the details of the idea as well as an implementation plan.

    2. The other class I teach is a microventure course in which undergrad students have to try and start their own business individually. I use Ash Maurya's Lean Canvas as the main suggested tool.

Ideally, I would love to be able to have my students collaboratively learning and doing with students from other universities. Anyone else teaching similar courses that we could try to link together Fall 2014?

    Thanks,
    Doan
