The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track position in Strategic Management with additional expertise in Entrepreneurship at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning in fall 2014. Job duties include teaching Business Strategy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, some teaching of Entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level, and research leading to publications in top-tier journals. This position requires a Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited business school, a strong research portfolio indicating the ability to publish in top-tier business journals, as well as demonstrated teaching ability. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 28,000 students and 2,900 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. Enrollment in Fall 2013 increased by almost five percent, and 86 new full-time faculty were added this year. The Lee Business School consists of five departments and a number of centers. The School has approximately 75 faculty and 3,600 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. A number of collaborative programs with other colleges of the university are in place, and more are under consideration. The Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology was recently formed through the merger of the Management and Management Information Systems Departments and consists of 20 full-time faculty. Faculty members in the department have published in numerous top-tier journals including Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of Applied Psychology. Joint research efforts and publications are common in the department.
Las Vegas is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city of approximately two million people, and welcomes over 40 million visitors each year from all over the world. In addition to a wide variety of live entertainment at our many hotel showrooms, the city is now home to a new world-class performing arts center. Las Vegas has an active and growing entrepreneurship community including the recent downtown revitalization project led by Tony Hsieh of Zappos.com. In conjunction with this downtown project, Vegas Tech holds weekly events that bring together software developers and designers. These events regularly host over 250 attendees. Switch Communications, which runs the world's largest and most powerful data center and technology ecosystem, recently opened the InNEVation Center to help foster innovation in Nevada.
