    Research Fellow - Social Entrepreneurship

    Aston Business School

Salary:   £26,527 to £36,298 per annum
Contract Type:   Fixed Term (until 31st April 2017)
    Basis:   Full Time
Closing Date:   Friday 07 March 2014 (Midnight UK Time)
    Interview Date:   To be confirmed
    Reference:  R140021

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work on an EU-funded international research project on social entrepreneurship titled "Social entrepreneurship as a force for more inclusive and innovative societies (seforis)". Aston leads a stream of research within seforis on the interplay of context and social entrepreneurship, which will involve both qualitative case studies as well as quantitative work (analysing existing databases and collecting new survey data). The successful applicant must be capable of delivering this work to tight deadlines and as specified in the original project outline. However, the post also requires the ability to work independently to recognise and capitalize on opportunities to develop original, high-quality research within the area. It is therefore essential that the successful applicant must be able to work both collaboratively and independently. In addition the postholder will be expected to contribute to other work streams in creative, conceptual, analysis and authoring roles.

Aston University is a key partner in the seforis multidisciplinary consortium of research institutions and practitioner organisations including the Catholic University Leuven (Belgium), Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden), Hertie School of Governance (Germany), University Autonoma Barcelona (Spain), Innovation & Action Lab (Belgium), University of Aveiro (Portugal), CEFIR (Russia), NPI (China), NESST (Hungary), UnLtd (United Kingdom), and i-propeller (Belgium). The OECD, Harvard Business School and the EVPA act as advisors to the project.

The successful applicant will work closely with Dr Ute Stephan and will have joint responsibility for delivering Aston's work within the project.

The research fellow will be part of the Economics and Strategy Group at Aston Business School (ABS), UK. ABS co-leads the UK Entrepreneurship Research Centre (ERC) and co-hosts (with Strathclyde University) the UK Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research programme. ABS is among the 1% of business schools worldwide to achieve triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
