Management Consulting in the Rough: Linking Research and Practice to Address Organizational Concerns (#10885)
Saturday, August 10: 9am – 12pm
WDW Yacht and Beach Club Resort, Grand Harbor Salon IV
Dear AOM Attendees,
Please join a panel of leaders in the management consulting field including: Anthony F. Buono, Bentley University; Leon de Caluwé, Twynstra and Vrije Universiteit; Alan Goldman, W. P. Carey School of Business; David W. Jamieson, University of Saint Thomas, Rickie A. Moore, EMLYON Business School; Kurt Motamedi, Pepperdine University; Fleming Poulfelt, Copenhagen Business School; Peter F. Sorensen, Benedictine University; and Therese F. Yaeger, Benedictine University.
Panelists will explore questions critical to the inquiry and practice of management consulting such as: What is useful research in management consulting and how should it be produced? How does the transfer of knowledge to practice actually work? What are some of the looming real-world challenges in the field of management consulting in need of research? In addition, doctoral students conducting research in the field will share their projects and gain expert feedback. The session will bring together established practicing scholars, scholarly practitioners, and doctoral students, creating a forum through which research ideas can be shared and research partnerships that emphasize relevant inquiry can be established.
Also during the PDW, three pre-selected doctoral students will share their approaching and divergent organizational challenges and how the results of their research could be effectively transferred to an organizational setting. Each of the three will receive feedback from panel members.
Cheryl Jordan, Color Outside the Lines, LLC and David Szabla, The George Washington University will moderate.
